【一人一信要求美國防暴武器商 —— 停止向香港警察出售鎮壓群眾武器】

當中The Safariland Group是防武廠商Defense Technology的母公司，主要向香港警察供應海棉彈，並曾供應一發多彈的橡膠子彈及五彈式催淚彈；NonLethal Technologies 則供應近期使用的多彈式橡膠子彈及催淚彈。

自六月以來，香港警察濫暴成態，利用大量催淚彈、胡椒球槍、布袋彈、橡膠子彈、海綿彈等防暴武器，血腥鎮壓反送中抗爭者、記者及市民，並且多番故意瞄準抗爭者的頭部，短距離、無差別地發射布袋彈及橡膠子彈，終令多名抗爭者嚴重受傷，其中一名女抗爭者甚至右眼浴血重創，眼球爆裂。警察亦承認使用「過期」催淚彈，並多次無視防暴武器上的警告字眼，在葵芳、太古城等港鐵站內發射催淚彈，令車站淪為「毒氣室」，波及無辜市民。

種種濫暴行為漠視國際安全標準，挑戰人權及市民生命安全的底線，相關武器生產商應該向香港警察停止出售防暴武器，否則只會助長警察暴行，繼續暴力打壓和平抗爭者！

Letter-writing campaign calling for US weapon manufacturers to halt the sale of crowd control weapons to Hong Kong

Police brutality has become ubiquitous in Hong Kong since June. Hong Kong Police have repeatedly misused crowd control weapons including tear gas canisters, pepper-ball guns, bean bag rounds, plastic bullets and sponge grenades in their bloody crackdown of anti-extradition protesters, journalists and members of the public. As the holding company of Defense Technology, the Safariland Group is the supplier of the sponge grenades, 5-in-1 tear gas canisters and multi-rubber baton rounds to Hong Kong, while NonLethal Technologies supplies the multi-smoke tear gas projectiles and the rubber bullets used in the recent crackdowns.

Riot police of the city deliberately shot on the protesters’ heads and fired at close range, causing severe injuries to protesters and civilians. A female protester was smashed by a bean bag round in her face, with her right eyeball ruptured. Hong Kong Police also used expired tear gas canisters and fired in subway stations, turning the whole station into “gas chambers” and risking the life of passengers. All these violate the international safety standards and the warnings given by the riot weapon manufacturers.

We, therefore, strongly urge the two major riot weapon manufacturers of Hong Kong Police to stop selling crowd control weapons to Hong Kong to prevent further brutality against Hong Kongers.
